Reports reaching us indicate that Governor Ibrahim Dankwambo of Gombe State escaped unhurt after his convoy was involved in a fatal accident on Wednesday night. One person was pronounced dead whilst six others were said to have sustained various degrees of injuries.

Our source confirmed that a pick up truck while speeding in the opposite direction lost control and veered into the path of the convoy, colliding with a police van and a Peugeot 406 in the Governor’s convoy. The accident was said to have occurred on the Gombe – Yola highway when the Governor was heading back to the state Capital from Shingom Local Government Area of the state.
