General John Shagaya (rtd) is to contest the senate of Plateau southern zone in the general elections under the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC). The former senator became the sole candidate after his sole opponent, Mrs Magadalene Nankim Bagudu stepped down for him shortly before the primaries.

The party also presented Barrister Satzilang Dashi as the candidate for Plateau central senatorial zone in the general elections. This was confirmed by the state party chairman Mr Latep Dabang who said Mr Godfrey Dapel who is the electoral committee chairman confirmed the outcome.

Gen Shagaya (rtd) of the APC is set to confront a fellow retired Gen, Jeremiah Useni of the PDP at the polls while Barrister Dashi will challenge incumbent Senator Joshua Dariye of the PDP.
