As groups and individuals continue to drum support for President Goodluck Jonathan to run for the 2015 presidential election, a retired Lt.General in the Nigerian Army and former Minister of the FCT, Jeremiah Useni has urged the president to run for the polls.
Jeremiah said, “Some of these developmental strides can be seen in major installations being commissioned all over the nation not to talk of the innovative dry session rice farming and processing plants designed to boost rice production with excess for export.
“In the area of infrastructural development , the second Niger Bridge under construction , the resustication of the railway system linking the south with the Northern Parts of the country and the numerous road networks across the country are there for every one to see. He added.

Useni who is also the Chairman, Board of Trustees, Arewa Consultative Forum, said, “I commend the giant strides taken by the Federal Government to curb the menace of the Boko Haram insurgency and wish to commend in particular the commitment of President Goodluck Jonathan for his foresight and unflinching efforts to end this ugly security situation.
“I salute and commend our members of the armed forces for the gallant way they are executing the difficult assignment. People should understand that this is not a normal or conventional war. They attack from different directions and at times you never expect, worst still they operate among civilians whom we are trying to protect.
The former FCT Minister who spoke with journalists in Jos on Monday further commended the Federal Government and the armed forces for being deligent and extra careful in handling the rescue mission, saying the whom are being rescue would have been killed if they were not careful.
“It is in these positive achievements that I call on my kinsmen, the people of Plateau State, and the entire 6 geo- political zone of this country to join me in prevailing on President Goodluck Jonathan to run for the second term so as continue with his good works.
Useni maintained that, “His good programmes have spoken for him, therefore he should heed the call of the people to contest come 2015.
He appealled to Nigerians to give the President the desired cooperation in curtailing insurgency in the country.
