Intrigues and drama within the APC have heightened following the sack of the state chairman of the Alliance for Progressive Change (APC), Honourable Latep Dabang earlier this week by stakeholders of the party.

In a new development, the sacked chairman has alleged that the nullification letter from the national secretariat was forged and was therefore null and void.

It would be recalled that the chairman of the interim management committee of the party, Senator John Shagaya, on Monday announced the nullification of Dabang’s election as the winner of the APC chairmanship congress in the state and affirmed the runner up in the election, Honourable Amos Gombi as the new chairman of the party, adding that the directive was based on the outcome of the petition filed by Gombi against the eligibility of Dabang to contest the election.

Intrigues and drama within the APC have heightened following the sack of the state chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Honourable Latep Dabang earlier this week by stakeholders of the party.

According to Shagaya, Honourable Gombi had petitioned the national secretariat, alleging that the winner of the declared winner, Honourable Dabang was a legislative aide of Senator Joshua Dariye, on the platform of the Labour Party and for this reason, was ineligible to stand election based on the constitution of the party.

Reacting to the statements made by Shagaya shortly after its stakeholders meeting on Tuesday, the deputy chairman of the party, Honourable Fanmak Enoch, said the nullification letter presentedwas forged to satisfy certain interest.

“We note with dismay that the said letter was not signed by Alhaji Tumsah himself. Which means the said letter is a forgery, which is criminal, deceptive, misleading and attempt to embarrass the party in the state and at the national level,” he said.

The deputy chairman explained that Honourable Dabang was, alongside other elected state chairmen inaugurated by the former interim national chairman of the party, Chief Bisi Akande and had been attending party functions at the national level.

“Presently, as we are addressing you, Dabang is in Osun State, alongside other national officers on an assignment,” he said.

Enoch enjoined all members of the party in the state to cooperate with Dabang-led state executive in the quest to reposition the party towards the 2015 election and implored elders of the party in the state to assist in giving the party a deserved lifeline.

Meanwhile, the party in the state is factionalised along Dabang and Gombi, with two state party secretariats.
