The Plateau Governor, Jonah Jang, on Monday in Jos swore in two new commissioners to fill vacancies created by the minor cabinet reshuffle he did in January.

The new commissioners are Abubakar Dashe, now in charge of Ministry of Transport, while Lawrence Gotau has been deployed to the Ministry of Sports.

In a brief speech at the ceremony, Jang told the new men they were coming in at a ”very critical point where time is of the essence and service delivery the ultimate”.

”We are not unmindful of the fact that we have entered the last lap of the administration. It means that everyone on board must step up.

”I expect you to come in with zest and dynamism, driven by a desire to add value to governance. You must make sacrifices and motivate others, while distancing yourselves from corruption and unnecessary sentiments,” he said.

The governor enjoined politicians to play the game in accordance with the rules, and cautioned against bitterness or violence.

The new commissioners, in their separate responses, thanked the governor for the opportunity given to them, and promised to be fair to all.
